“London is a roost for every bird.”

The London Express

Hey, I’m Jarrod. I started The London Express in 2018 to write about the city I live in. I wanted to do something a bit different from other lifestyle/travel blogs and also cover a range of other themes around life and experiences in London, including business, history, culture, music, and much more. I also wanted to capture the diversity of London experiences through incorporating the voices and stories of other people who call London home.

Part travel guide, part blog, part storytelling vehicle – expect posts spanning the spectrum of all things London. From upcoming events, reviews of restaurants and bars in the city, to bits of folklore, cultural and historical nuggets, and rising stars in business and enterprise, I celebrate my love affair with the Big Smoke through the medium of writing. As a young professional, I also write about my experiences of working in the City and hacks/tips around productivity and personal finance.

Born and raised in Singapore, I moved to London at the age of 21 where I read History at university and later a Master’s in Management. I’ve lived in Camden, Islington, and I now reside on the Isle of Dogs. I’m a consultant for Financial Services, a self-taught rock guitarist, amateur web developer, and dabbler in start-ups and social enterprise. When not at work, writing or playing music, I can usually be found at the gym trying to beat my weighted pull-up PB or exploring tall buildings with cocktail bars in them.

Get in touch at jarrod@thelondonexpress.com if you want to bounce ideas around, collaborate, or simply chat. I would love to hear your London story if you’ve got one (or more) to share. Drop me a line to contribute.
